Getting there is half the fun!

After a 5 hour drive to the Detroit airport in a loaded down Passat with no radio, a shuttle bus ride from the parking lot, an escalator and elevator ride to the baggage check-in, a people mover, train ride and a veryyyyyy longgggggggggggg airport ride including an HOUR delay while we were sitting on the plane before we left so they could change the tires on the landing gear...we have arrived in 103 degree Tulsa. Tulsa is well...Tulsa. Southern Hills is however, exactly how you would picure something called Southerh Hills to be...southern and fancy.

While in the airport, I couldn't help to think if it was possible that the reason why people were no longer allowed passed security without a boarding pass had nothing to do with 9-11 but perhaps it was because of Mom's like me.

The airport is like a mini amusement park complete with rides and junk food. It is P-E-R-F-E-C-T place for your kid to burn energy on a super snowy or nasty rainy day. It is way better than the Menard's play area, SAM's club and not even close to the treehouse at the mall. Can't you just hear it? Do you want to play in the Air France or the Northwest terminal today? Mom's on a budget would definitely have to carpool and share the expense of parking but it definitely wouldn't cost anymore than the money you spend on things you don't need at the store.

The airplane however...that's a different story. Have you ever tried to fit yourself anda short person into the bathroom on a plane TWICE on a 2 hour flight? Have you ever had the joy of keeping a 1st time flier content while they spend 1 HOUR changing the landing gear tires on the airplane? Umm...Golfdad make some putts so we can pick-up a portable DVD player for the ride home.
